In this hands-on online workshop, we will explore the ancestral art and history of creating whistling vessels—ceramic instruments that merge form, sound and ceremony. Drawing inspiration from Peruvian traditions, students will learn to craft vessels that produce melodic tones through the breath and voice of water. The course will cover techniques in hand-building, whistle making, incorporating acoustic technologies, and understanding the historical significance of these instruments in ceremonial contexts. By the end of the workshop, participants will have created their own functional whistling vessel, connecting with a rich tradition of storytelling and spirituality through sound.

Further Information: This is an online workshop that students can join from all over the world. Each student is responsible for their own clay, tools and firing. We will have a class WhatsApp group, where you can consult with me and your classmates throughout the building process, show off your work and connect with your classmates. Each week we will record the class so you can review the lesson throughout the week, you will have access to these recordings indefinitely.
This class is an alchemical process: we will be invoking ancient archetypes and energies, this will change you. Self-observation is vital to keep you aware of the ways that invoking and embodying ancient medicine and sound technologies re-awakens parts of you that might have been hiding in your underworld. I hope you enjoy the journey 🙂
